Short: V1.4 John the Ripper (AmiTCP/Unix PWchecker) Author: Ulrich.Flegel@braunschweig.netsurf.de (Ulrich Flegel) Uploader: Ulrich Flegel braunschweig netsurf de (Ulrich Flegel) Type: comm/tcp Architecture: m68k-amigaos This is the Amiga binary distribution of John the Ripper, authorized by it's author Solar Designer. John is as persistent as Crack is but John's more suitable for Amiga architecture. John the Ripper is a multi-platform password checker for Unix-style password files whose format happens to be used for AmiTCP's db/passwd file. If you supply telnet or user ftp services with your Amiga's presence on the Internet you should make sure all your accounts have reasonably secure passwords. Though most crackers use faster machines than Amigas it's better than nothing to verify the passwd security with your own machine. Due to an overwhelming flurry of requests for 020/030 versions of John this reupload includes 000/020/040 versions. The dedicated 030 code is equal to the 020 code, so use the 020 version on 030s. The uploader is not resposible for however you use this software but wants strictly discourage cracking passwords of machines not administered by you. Y'oughta strengthen security. 'nuff said.
