Short: Send SMS message to GSM phones v1.4a Author: Charlot Cobben (c.cobben@usa.net) Uploader: Charlot Cobben (c cobben usa net) Type: comm/misc Version: 1.4a Replaces: comm/misc/AsmsC.lha Architecture: m68k-amigaos URL: http://www.euronet.nl/users/gravis/AsmsC -----+ 09-12-1997 +--------------------------- Added some features from YoUr wish-list. + Option to choose your own serial-device and device number + Terminal can now be choosen to run as Backdrop or a new Window. + Terminal can now dial both 8N1 and 7E1 serial modes + added some extra GSM providers Phonenumber to use with the Terminal option Terminal has changed a little.. Running terminal you are immediately asked to provide a GSM providers phonenumber (or choose one from the list). To be honest.. the whole Terminal will be "re-done" for I'm not completely happy with it.. but it works! -----+ 02-12-1997 +--------------------------- Added a very important and easy feature.. a Terminal. After choosing your destination you then have a new menu option "Terminal". Choosing this you will get the "Checkdetails" message again. If all details are correct you click on "OK". At that point your Workbench screen turns into a simple terminal screen with menu options. [Amiga]D = Dial provider [Amiga]N = Insert GSM destination number [Amiga]M = Insert created SMS text. [Amiga]Q = Leave Terminal. By using this terminal you can dial your GSM provider, if the "normal" way of AsmsC is not supported (in other words.. if your provider does not support the EMI protocol.) By choosing the menu option "Dial provider" you already get some pre-defined provider-numbers, if yours is not one of them, please contact your provider and ask for the Phonenumber to send SMS messages to, using Text. Normally you would send SMS messages this way, using Term, Ncomm or simular programs. If things are not clear, or you have problems.. please let me know. Also.. if you want to have an extra phonenumber added as default in the "Terminal dial" option, please let me know. -----+ 20-11-1997 +--------------------------- *AsmsC now supports:All Providers that use EMI protocols (like PTT Telecom; D2; Natel D) *Better dialing procedure (with timeout) *Providers Telephonenumber in International format for use anywhere in Europe. *Speech implementation -----+ 16-11-1996 +--------------------------- Just a small bug-fix.. After sending the SMS message the window closed immediately, without giving you the opportunity to view if the SMS-send was succesfull. Fixed! -----+ 15-11-1997 +--------------------------- New features.. - Easy and flexible Phonebook allowing to store Phonenumber with names and comments - [registred]Users can now send pre-defined messages. - Can use International acces-codes - Save customized settings [registred users only] - Easy Pop-up window to choose destination Bug fixes.. - On some Amiga's the sending of the SMS message didn't proceed correctly. This was due to the fact that the message was send to fast for the GSM provider to translate and data wend missing. - Limitations.. Yep, even I had to create a Shareware version of AsmsC, considering the costs for testing sms messages etc and the work done on it, I thought it would be fare to ask for a small amount of money, thus ensuring the users to get updates frequently and expand the program to have more options and perhaps let you send SMS messages through e.g. Internet or be able to send SMS messages to Text - buzzers as well. Current limitations: - The Phonebook can only hold 5 records - Printing the Phonebook has been disabled - Saving Customized setting has been disabled - Pre-defined message texts has been disabled All other function work a 100%.. - Shareware contribution Simply send all your details to the address at the end of this file. Together with a Euro-cheque equilevant to around Fl 20,= (e.g. DM20 or 7 Pounds or about US$10). Or you can deposite the money on my bank-account, together with your email address. I will then contact you. This will ensure you of all the features mentioned above send to your home address (or via Email if you like) + automatic updates via Email. If you have any questions, please write or email me ----- Previous Readme, plus additional information ------- +--10-11-1997--+ After several [positive] response throughout Europe, I've now completely rewritten Asms into AsmsC. Enabling also other people in different countries to send SMS messages to Mobile Phones. - This program enables persons to send SMS message to Mobile phones. It's finally into version 1.2 wich adds some nice handy features. No documents (except for this readme) are including since it's all straight forward easy.. At startup you will see a window that allows you to fill-in the phone number of the (Mobile) person you want to send the message to. You can either type in a number or use the arrow down button to choose from a Phonebook entry. Then you can (if you wish) insert a recepients number. The person receiving the message will know who send it.. The Pull down menus allow you to change various setting. They all come with Help buttons, so I won't go into them here. Please note that you have to change the phonenumber for your GSM provider in the pull-down menus and set them to your providers number. The one at default is for use ONLY in The Netherlands. (ask your GSM provider for the number you should use) Off course do not forget to change the message text. Remember only 160 characters possible with SMS, you will be notified if you exceed the 160 characters. (Future version might allow you to go to >500 characters, depending on your provider) If you're done press the Phone button that is now enabled. You will then see all the details you have entered. If any of these are not to your satisfaction, choose Cancel to change them. - PHONEBOOK You can add new records with the "NEW"-button. Delete records with the "DELETE"-button. Save your Phonebook with the "SAVE"-button.
